#Photoready

The past Saturday was spent with my mother at the ORMS Direct #Photoready workshop. This workshop was held at the beautiful ORMs studios with the beautiful Cape Town landscape as our backdrop. It was a day filled with all things girly and fun from make up stations, a nail bare, hair bars and a portrait studio. We also had an opportunity to listen to amazing speakers who spoke about all that we need know in order to be photo ready, from personal styling to motivation

.

"The natural look actually takes some effort"

The lovely yet very stealthy photographer from Nikon caught me in some awesome moments with my mom and even some selfie moments.

I even got my face did by this lovely lady. She made me look like the bell of the ball and was so excited to work on my face. She really made me feel comfortable, feel  beautiful and photo ready for my portraits .

So thank you to the lovely people who made our day special.

Woodstock with GentleGiant*

"This winter has been good to us" is the order of the day in Cape Town. The winter gods have been nothing but generous to us this year. We have had weekends of sunshine all round and entirely freezing days.

To show how good it has been, it allowed me to play honorary model in the streets of Woodstock with Murendi of GentleGiant*. It even allowed me to wear a skirt without stockings in the middle of winter without freezing to death.

It was a good hour or so, filled with dodging traffic, waiting for people to pass in order to get the shot and me shouting "that would make a cool shot, let's go down the street, look over there" and poor Murendi with he's half dying camera battery trying to keep up with my madness. We even had some people stopping to see that the hell we where up to, while some kept reminding me to smile (*side bar please* I know that I really should smile more in pictures and I'm working on it). Eventually it all came together to make these awesome shots.

Woodstock is a pretty cool place, it;s alive with colors and just life. Next time you visit this part of the mother citi make sure you just don't go to the market and then go home, make sure you stay a little longer and take in the street life.

Public Holiday

I am for the day, I may have come into this world in a fit of rage and awkward fabulous in the dead of winter in the middle of the night but, I still believe I am of the day. My spirit is free during the day and I am my best when I feel the sun on my face and the world growing and changing around me.

I love the idea of getting lost in ones city and just exploring. As I live in Cape Town I know we tend to take our surroundings for granted. We never climb the mountain because we know it will always be their and we never go to the beach because we know its not drying up anytime soon ( well we hope). We also never just take a walk during the day.

In the spirit of exploring, my good friend Khuthii and I had a 2 women strong insta walk around Bree Street and BoKaap. This was a good opportunity to catch up and get over our obsession for pretty and interesting doors.

Lunch was at Clarks on Bree street. They had me at All Day Breakfast. any place that can give me my favourite meal of the day at any time of the day is a place after my heart. This was my second Clarks experience and its going to be my place forever. Soon they will know me by name.

The is something magical about BoKaap. It feels stuck in time and the colours are mesmerising.  Next time you have time, take a walk around this beautiful part of Cape Town and you can thank me later.

This green wall warmed my heart. I still want to go back to it. I'm not for green but this wall had me.

So, don't wait for the Insta Walks, create your own.

Thoughts at....

I have been writing my thoughts on the tumblr blog of late so I have decided to share them here on this post. I love sharing what I'm thinking, its a good outlet. I'm not doing this to change the world, this is just to let some feelings fly.

 Thoughts at 06:10am
It’s the missing you terribly time of the day. Funny how used to you I’ve already become. Oh but, I was never ready for this.

When you experience a moment of happiness except it as just that. Do not kill it with doubt.

 On my mind at 09:21am
I feel more than I think. I’m that girl that says “I feel” more than “I think” when it comes to answering questions.
Thoughts at 22:54pm
Today was a beautiful day. Beautiful not because the sun was shining and the birds where singing. It was a beautiful day because of the outbursts of laughter, the smiles not withheld and the moments that really warmed my heart. For that I am grateful.

Loner behind the Canvas

Something magical about Art and what it evokes in a human being. I was recently humbled by the talented @LonerTK with a sketch of me. Loner refers to himself as just that, a loner who kills he's time in front of he's canvas trying to better himself and touching the rest of the world with he's art. For him, art is actually  an extramural  activity for me as he is currently studying  software development  in TUT. he says that art found him in grade 5 at school and he only really took it seriously years later by taking art classes.

I asked him to finish the following statement:

Q: "keep in mind that I'm an artist and I'm sensitive about my ish" do you feel the same as you post your work on Twitter and Instagram all the time. ?

A:  yeah I do get a bit sensitive  towards negative reviews, but a little constructive criticism never hurt anyone right? I've  learnt to deal with online hostility so most of people's hateful comments simply roll off my back

I would like to thank Loner again for the sketch, it is very beautiful and I really hope you get an opportunity to see your work on world platforms and you get to bring joy to people like you did to me.

I say find your passion and take a step towards it. you never know where it take you. the world awaits.
