Public Holiday

I am for the day, I may have come into this world in a fit of rage and awkward fabulous in the dead of winter in the middle of the night but, I still believe I am of the day. My spirit is free during the day and I am my best when I feel the sun on my face and the world growing and changing around me.

I love the idea of getting lost in ones city and just exploring. As I live in Cape Town I know we tend to take our surroundings for granted. We never climb the mountain because we know it will always be their and we never go to the beach because we know its not drying up anytime soon ( well we hope). We also never just take a walk during the day.

In the spirit of exploring, my good friend Khuthii and I had a 2 women strong insta walk around Bree Street and BoKaap. This was a good opportunity to catch up and get over our obsession for pretty and interesting doors.

Lunch was at Clarks on Bree street. They had me at All Day Breakfast. any place that can give me my favourite meal of the day at any time of the day is a place after my heart. This was my second Clarks experience and its going to be my place forever. Soon they will know me by name.

The is something magical about BoKaap. It feels stuck in time and the colours are mesmerising.  Next time you have time, take a walk around this beautiful part of Cape Town and you can thank me later.

This green wall warmed my heart. I still want to go back to it. I'm not for green but this wall had me.

So, don't wait for the Insta Walks, create your own.

Lunch with the girls ... and hail

The birthday weekend ended on a high note for me. I had a beautiful fun lunch with girls. It was a cold weekend in the Mother city but, we made sure we had fun come cold, rain or hail. We had plans and we were gonna have fun * rubs hands like Bird Man*.

Le girls ... "long as my b*tches love me". The picture in the middle of Long Street in the rain is like my favorite picture I took on the day. Its on some ad tip ( even if i say so myself) lol... The models are my friends Khuthii and Margot. Laughing and what not, its love man.

Le place to eat... we ended up going to The Fat Cactus in Kloof. We had good food, good chilled vibe, good conversations and a crazy fun waitress. It was my first time here so I was ooowing and aaaing at the arty deco and what not. As the birthday girl I even got a hat.

Then it hailed and the restaurant went mad with wtf, wow and phones out taking pics .... The hail was like the best back drop to our pictures. The cold did not hold us back and it was a lot of fun. The strangers looked at us funny but, we did not care at all.

The mandatory jump shot.... as I leap into 27 feeling all sorts of blessed and loved. Big things popping. The future for Ms Abongwe Qokela is looking bright and its good with my soul.

Design Indaba - Take 1

Then we arrived at the Indaba. My first one at that. Didn't mind the shortage of parking at what not, i was in good company so it was all good. Plus i was just hella excited I just wanted to be inspired and see some cool kids and what they had to offer.

First picture of the day and I knew it was gonna go down good. The vibe was amazing and the level of the stalls was on point. i wanted to see everything. i was like a kid in a candy store. Huge  smile on my face and clicking away on my phone.

Clever display this one. I was in love with it on all levels.

So the play stand was fun thou. Took pics and was really involved and drank free play. lol. I even got to say hi to Max, yes he is the dude who takes cool pictures (stops gushing) lol. I cant wait to see our pictures in 2 weeks on the Play Heroes website. I'm stoked.

So the cool kids were in full attendance. I even grew the balls to ask these two if i could take a pic then in the middle of it all chickened out and didn't tell them I have a blog and you cool kids will be on that. Eish, someone needs to teach me the ways of this whole going up to strangers and asking to take pics of them. They were nice thou and allowed me to take a pic.

How can i forget, the support Cape Town 2014 people were also in attendance and we took those cool pics with boards. Now we just waiting for them to post them and then i will post them up. On that waiting note, we also waiting on the hommies from Mini to post our 360 camera jump shot, that was like all sorts of the shit. *sigh.

I will do another post on the fashion show and a half I saw.....

we did the mill again

So we decided to go to The Old Biscuit Mill again. Its like my favourite thing to do hey. Its always a fun and relaxed vibe with the whole world in attendance. The different kinds of cool people to the everyday hipsters in attendance.

eish so they are doing some street construction work outside the Mill and I've been wanting to take a pic outside with the sign like a crazy one. So I did. don't mind the photo booming going on. Its a public road after all.

Then we had the case of the Coconut. Now let me first say those Jamaicans are selling us a pipe dream. I was hella excited about my first coconut. I really should have let this FOMO moment pass me hey cause, I was disappointed. It don't taste nice or even remotely exciting. Its just this strange taste. They sold me a dream and I like a liker of things bought it and was disappointed.

Ok so its my birthday on the 31 May this year and I would like any of the above for my birthday. Those watches are the shit and the colourful what nots are also up in the liker box. i will love you forever if you do and I will oust a lil something to say thank you on the blog. laying it on thick. lol

Unfortunately we didn't stay long at the Mill. we had other things to do like the Indaba.. it was a good morning after all.

New hair

So guess who has a new hair do. MEEEE. Ok its nothing major really. Its just a weave. What shocked me was how people reacted to me hou. People thought I had relaxed my hair and were up in arms while some just wanted me to have my afro back.let me clear things up. I did not relax my fro. This is a protective style and I wanted a new look so I did a weave.

Rain in the CT

The Mother City gave us beautiful rain this weekend. it wasn't cold at all just raining. I was out and about and decided to take a few pictures on the morning. I would love to get a camera thou. These pics were taken from my phone.

Sunday best

So Sunday I celebrated mass in a way that was a first for me. It was a thanks giving mass that was of a newly ordained priest in Cape Town. So we woke up earlier than usual and went on a little road trip ( ok not really but its a bit far from home) to Stellenbosch. It was a seriously beautiful experience and it was held under the trees and all. I am convinced that we were about 500 people in attendance. I took a few pictures on the day for show.

People were dressed in their best best traditional clothes on the day. It was a traditional spectacular. I loved it hey.

That was me on the day. Kept it simple and my fro was out to play. The day was beautiful I enjoyed the whole experience.
