I visited the city centre - travel diaries

The fam and I took the subway to the city  centre in São Paulo. This city is a beast. What did I expect from the biggest city in Brazil. We walked around took pictures and I fussed over graffiti again. Some things never change.
I have become obsessed with doorways ever since I got here.
Some of the views around town. Larger then life type things.
The graffiti I saw around the city I was in love with. The one at the bottom is by far my favorite one so far.
Day well spent

Goodbye Goiania - travel diaries

As I write this I have just arrived in São Paulo and we just got the wifi password. Lol this group gets hella excited when passwords for wifi get passed on. But anyway Goiania was a lot of fun. We connected with the families cause this time we didn't stay in a boarding place but with host families and got to see the real people.
This up here is when I arrived and its the view from the high top. They made me pose like this.
Some of the people from the community I visited. A warm group of people yes.

This is what my new lil friend made for me when I arrived. We were 2 from the program which was really cool.

The girls chilling at the park.

The views around the city. The city has some cool art on the streets. I wish I actually could have taken more pics.

The group on the hill. I love these people. Group pictures all the time.                      Thank you Goiania

Brasilia things - travel diaries

So we visited the capital city for the day. Walked around chilled on hammocks ad took pis like tourist. People around here must think we are crazy. Well they won't be far off cause, we are and we loving it. The bus drive was a tad bit long but it was well worth the outing
On my girl about town tourist thing. Pics all round.
Jump shots are mandatory. Like the air we take in. Those are my Austrian connects. Always fun around them.
This travel thing is tiring so we needed to regroup and take in some rest. Lol
At the cathedral. Awesome buildings around this city. Such drama.
A day well spent. :)

Around the town- travel diaries

We have been out and about Goias and it's beautiful. This city is has a calm buzz about it, from the bikes buzzing about and the sound of nature. It's a good balance I feel, just enough nature to balance city living.

We are deemed lucky because we arrived during the popular FICA festival. We are treated to free live performances in the city parks all round. This festival is a celebration of art, music and film.
Shopping here is also a trip. Saw some pretty interesting stores and did a bit shopping and just played tourist really.

I find myself constantly smiling. It must be all the love that surrounds me.

Walk around the block- travel diaries

So we took a walk around our hotel yesterday morning in São Paulo. It was a lot of fun and a good eye opener. The city is alive and has a buzz. Most of the walls have art on them even if its just tags, even the pay phones are tagged. That aside all of that adds to the vibe and  character of the city. Here are some of the pics I took
On girl about town swag. Yes I got my tommy takkies out.
We visited the Cathedral while we were at it. Beautiful place.
Ghana, Austria and South Africa like the bosses we are.
Some of the street art around the city.
I love it...

IamAbongwe - Brazil diaries

As I write this I have checked into my hotel room in São Paulo Brazil. I will be taking part in the DKA Exchange program. We are being hosted by Missao  Aprender Brazil 2013. When I say we I am referring to 31 young people from Austria (11), South Africa(1-me),Columbia(1), EL Salvador(1), Camaroon(1),India(2),Guatemala(1),Ghana(1) and 12 young people from Brazil.                   Who would have know that I would wake up in South Africa and go to sleep in São Paulo. This is just mind blowing and all sorts of amazing.
My traveling girl swag. This was when I was in Johannesburg waiting form my connecting flight to here.
A friend of mine suggested that I keep a travel journal. So I got a pocket sketchbook and made it that. Yep I took my South African style bible with me. What was really cool about this issue of ELLE was the fact that they had a cool travel section about packing for a trip and what not. I will be using the scarf I got in the mag on my bag or as a head band.
This made my heart melt. I literally wanted to cry. I have been dreaming of such a moment for a long time. I am excited for the rest of my stay here. More posts to come.To all those who made this trip possible I say thank you very much.
IamAbongwe xx
