Black lips

I have moments, moments of madness and hyped creative ideas. In these moments I am not myself but, I'm also my favourite kind of person. When I'm using my creative side my heart is literally warm and just happy. When I come down from the creative high I'm literally tired but, its that good tired, that kind of tired that makes me want to do it again.

I used my eyeliner for the lips, apparently all the cool kids are doing it. I haven't seen a tube of black lipstick so black eyeliner is the future for me. And yes, my hair is crying to be set free but, its all good in my hood. I loved this hairstyle from the onset and I will probably redo this hairstyle again.

 

I also created this video with my lovely sister  and edited it with VIBBIDI app that's launching in September.

 

 

 

Awesome

 

My love for denim is huge and its one of those loves that will never end. You will find me in my jeans from the office to the streets on the weekend so, when I found this "awesome" top from CottonOn I just couldn't say no ( the fact that it was on sale for R150 made it even more sweeter). I wore it with my fav stone wash pencil skirt just to prove a point that Denim on Denim is never too mach.

 

 

 

 

 

Oh the places I will wear this to. Yes I am about to put it to work.

I stumbled on this track yesterday on Tumblr on a blog I follow and I fell in love with it. It touched the soft parts of my jaded heart and made sense. I may not be in a relationship but I relate to this. 

Saturday

 



 

The past weekend left me feeling all sorts of loved and warm and fuzzy inside. It was my birthday weekend ( if you didn't know).No turn ups and blurry expenses, just real moments with people who matter. It might just be a sign that I am growing up and I know what really matters finally. it could also be a sign that I'm old and my poor liver would never forgive me.

 

By Saturday I was buzzing with excitement as I was going to be spending the day with my friends. It was a simple lunch at Mondiall at the Waterfront which was all about good company, laughter, good food,interesting conversations and making the restaurant our background for pictures. when you do go Mondiall make sure you visit the restrooms, the amazing mirrors with touch you. The only down side is that they had  prepared for the brunch menu and  what we wanted to eat was on the other menu I saw on the site. Sad but anyway the food is pretty good.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Saturday ended on top of the world literally, well after much deliberation we ended up taking a drive up Signal Hill with Drake as our hype man. It was freezing but it was beautiful and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

 

 

 

The outfit of choice was a pleather skirt with a slit from Legit, a jersey from Mr Price. The stacked shoes from Fashion Express and a vintage coat I got from a Church Bazaar a couple of years ago.  

 

 

 

Thank you to everyone who made my birthday memorable. Denim

Iike everyone else I that pair of jeans I could wear everyday and with everything. That pair of jeans that is just too comfortable and is starting to give up but you don't want to throw away. 

Lucky for me, worn out and cut up for denim is in style. So I did what anyone in my position would do. I cut them up and gave them a life line. Below are some of the ways I could wear them. 

 

Design Indaba 2015 #DavidTlale

My Design Indaba highlight was the David Tlale show. I planned my whole Saturday around it, that's how excited I was about the show.I was at the fashion show stage probably 30 minutes before the time, just so that i could get as close to the front row as possible. The  talent that this man has is beyond anything I have ever seen. And the fact that he allowed us to witness he's NY fashion week collection ( without Tyson Beckford thou, ja ja fish paste) I felt really honored. 

Our semi front row existence was good too. We where the cool kids at the fashion show and I was wanting everything I was seeing. I'm a white shirt person ( minus my messy eater tendencies thou) and I wanted those shirts with my whole being. I would want the little booty shorts too, if I knew I could look that fierce in them. 

Thanks to Khuthii for being able to Capture the legend doing the exiting walked. He walked way too fast for me to be able to get him this awesome. 

Design Indaba 2015 #take1

This years Design Indaba marked my 3rd indaba. What I like about the indaba is that it's never the same. From the talent on display and to the creatives in attendance. I felt this year was a bit low on the number of exhibitions thou as well as the crowds, i guess its because it was because the Art Fair was also happening. I had expected more stands but, what I did like is that what was on display was nothing less than awesome. 

The oldies but goodies where the Nando's stand and the Foschini 2015 designs. They really did not disappoint me this year again. What I liked was it focuses on art as well unearthing new talent. 

I also got some time at the doodle booth this time around and my heart was signings. I really enjoyed the concept and the possibility of my little doodle beings sold for R100 for the good of man. hehehe

My homie in the Indaba was one of my awesome friends. We started this indaba ritual 2 years ago and it was good to share this one together. We even got to win Mohair socks from the awesome Mohair stand and sat semi front row at David Tlale show. 

To the next year. To the next indaba. Who knows I might just have my own stand. Keep your eyes open

I needed an escape from the mundane

I have been secretly watching Inga and her fearless move into the beauty industry. I have also been wanting to interview her on the blog and just have been stalling. Well I finally decided to drop her a comment on instagram and boom she said yes and this is how our chat went.

1)Inga is?

Well... My bio reads something like this...

"26 | Freelance Makeup Artist | Lifestyle Fanatic | Marketer | Ultimate Consumer | Beauty Lover"

Add to that a few personal traits and characteristics and you've got what I like to think of as an extremely unique and passionate individual. 

2) What made you decide on a career in the beauty industry? 

Well, I never really made that decision... It just sort of happened. In 2013 I was working in a very restrictive and monotonous corporate environment (had been for 4 years), and I was quite simply bored of it. I decided that I needed an escape from the mundane and to spend more time on hobbies... something I loved. That's make-up. So in April of that year, I enrolled for a part time course and as the cliche goes, the rest is history. 

3) how are you finding your feet in this industry and is it an easy industry to make a name in? 

I don't know whether I'll ever find my feet really. The industry changes all the time. Literally, as quickly as the seasons! I try to accept as many opportunities as I can possibly manage, even if it means reshuffling the rest of my life. It most definitely hasn't been easy and there are some major downfalls to working as a make-up artist. What helps is that I genuinely love everything related to make-up. And at the end of the day, that passion trumps all the negatives. 

4) Where would you like to see your career going? 

I never imagined that I'd have had the experiences I already have had through make-up, so to give you a solid goal would be really difficult. Ultimately, longevity is what I'd like. I never want the day to come when I can't play with make-up. I'll admit, recognition would be amazing... But I hope it never becomes my biggest goal.

5) The highlights so far?

There are so many! Off the top of my head... 

All the amazing events that I've been privileged to be apart of... The countless weddings, Woman's Lifestyle Expo 2014, a Wella International hair show and product launch, the Paul Mitchell White event, working for MUD South Africa at the ORMS woman's month event and the Mrs. South Africa pageant lifestyle challenge weekend in 2014 (I can proudly say I've done the make-up for the reigning Mrs. Globe!!!!),  meeting some really awesome people - photographers, bloggers, musicians, models - and as recently as last week I did the grooming for local band The Black Ties and radio & TV personality Bailey Schnieder. It really has been an incredible 2 years!

6) Make up is? 

A piece of heaven right here on earth. It's my happiness ☺
