Peter's House

Finally after much deliberations and just never getting around to it I visited Peters House. Its at 14 Kloof Nek Rd, Cape Town if you want to experience it yourself and better yet if you want to take me out for a bite :)

First things first I love the deco of this place. It's not pretentious and just not overly trying to be what it is. What it is to me is a chilled little place with character filled with little interesting things and a chilled vibe and good food. I noticed something new and different the whole time and I bet you next time I go I will notice something new.

It's a place where the little details count. The little details being presentation of the food and my cute little biscuit with my coffee.  More importantly the food is fresh and tastes pretty good. If you are part of the "we don't Instagram our food click" you will surly find yourself being tempted to.

If you will be looking for a menu, don't even bother. The menus are on the walks which I really like. Details people, details.

I couldn't stop looking the cutlery light fixture. I am totally obsessed with it and really wouldn't mind one when I get my first home. It's a stylish talking peace and  just hella interesting.

Yip! That's me taking a selfie in the bathroom. I will totally be back at this place soon. I can see it being my thing now.  I cant wait to go back and better yet sit outside and watch the beautiful people while I have a cup or a glass of something.

To the boys who will ever date my daughter

This is beautiful. A man and the love he has for he's daughter.

A chance to be great

I had decided to have a catch up with one of the guys from GentleGiant* as its been a while since the last interview. I also wanted to see what the brand has been up to and how they are planning to change the world.

Q:How has the brand been since our last chat?

A:-The reception has been both amazing and scary. The demand has far outweighed our supply. This is because we are a fair trade brand it takes longer to produce and we are a small company

Yes GentleGiant* was in Yale

Q: Has this been a learning curb  for you guys ?

A: Yep. We've had to adjust our theories of change along the way.

Q: Was adjust the theories hard in anyway and what was the one thing that was not gonna change regardless

A: It wasn't  really. All social ventures go through it and it'll continue to evolve with the ecosystem, time and context

Q: What have been the highs since the last chat?

A: I think the reaction the product and brand got from both Americans and Africans alike, we've received so many orders outside our boarders it's quite scary and again, exciting.

Q: What's the next step? With the momentum still high?

B: The campaign behind creating new GentleGiant*s that will lead their communities

Q: Do elaborate

A: So we are looking to sell more of our products so we can support the learning in at-risk areas and an inclusion of entrepreneurship in syllabus.

We've got a new campaign launching this week #GOTS and you all gotta keep an eye on our facebook page GentleGiant and gentlegiantsa.com for more info. No cat out of the bag yet.

Q: The meaning behind #GOTS at least.

A: -Township young men and women deserve a chance to be great.
-Whoever can guess what #GOTS stands for will win a prize. So make your way to the GentleGiant* Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=778803892164549

Q: Will it only be launched on Facebook? Or do you guys have other platforms?

A: -Through our website. YouTube channel. Twitter. And with time our ambassadors will be on mainstream media.
-We will also unveiling our awesome ambassadors in the weeks to come

Q: Disco Stay Jacket is totally behind the brand and cant wait to see big things happen as well as the launch. Any last words before we wrap this up?

A: - With the rise of social enterprises all over, I think one thing I'd like to emphasize about gentlegiant* is our commitment you serving our nation, we realize many leaders tend to get side tracked by all the awards and personal attention on social networks, at genteleGiant* we accept its not about an individual, its also not about us, whatever need people feel we need to fulfil that is what we are here for. For all the gentle souls, humble artists heads. This one is for you.

App alert - Bazaart

I have a new app obsession. It's called Bazzart. I downloaded it today on the App Store. It's a photo editor but, it's more on the "taking your pics to another level" type app. You get to do some crazy things to normal pics and they end up look professional as if your cool graphic designer or Photographer friend turned them out.

This was my first creation. I used 3 pics I took from my phone and played around with them. Trial and error is the name of my game cause I decided to skip the tutorial they had.

This one I called "think black". That's me trying to be fancy. Again I used pics I took.

As you can tell by now I'm so in love with this app.

So if you don't feel like using your owne pictures and want some ready to use equally cool pictures, then you can just use pictures from the app. Te variety is endless and you can really go to town.

Do check this app out and let me know what you think. P.S : Apple did not pay me to post about this app, I just love it and want to share it with te world.

*sips coffee*

I have not been blogging the way I should be. It's not that I have not had things to blog about but, it's just that life has been pulling me in different directions. I will get at it. I love this space.

Girls about town

Doing new things is my new motto in life. Here is how it went down; Khuthii “check the link I posted on your Facebook wall” and from that we ended up at the Mercedes-Benz Bokeh International Fashion Film Festival.

We arrived a bit late but it was worth it. We got to listen to two very interesting yet different speakers. We were laughing one minute, emotional the next and totally inspired threw out. We were listening to people at the top of the game who were sharing experiences and teachings and letting us into who they are and the work that inspires them.

First we had Adrin Steirn a filmmaker/photographer of the 21 Icons Project. He talked passionately about the art and got us to view 3 videos that touched us.
We also reluctantly at first but were very happy we did, listened to Fred Sweet the producer of La Jolla EFF & The IFFS’S. The guy spoke the truth and the dry jokes killed the room.

This is how I looked on the day.My outfit consisted of a leather jacket from a store in china town, a knit and shirt from Mr Price, Skinny jeans from Edgars and black boots from Ligit.Nothing too fancy but I was good with it.

My girl Khuthii killed it today. The lady of color. I love how she is not afraid of color and that she kills it with her arm candy.

. People looked good and the actual event was pretty chilled. We did not get to get our faces did at the Mac stand thou but, it’s all good in the fashion hood.

I also got to take some pictures of some well dressed ladies in fashion fabulous. Next time I will go to people and actually ask to take pics of them. Its about time to bet serious.

It was a day well spent. :)

Good Food and Wine Show

I visited the the Good Food and Wine Show this past weekend. One of my things of wanting to experience all these things that come to city and well experiencing everything new. It was a chilled vibe filled with nice food and all that comes with it. Birthday weekend experience all round.

I love this even at this age thou. All pouts and puffed up afro like the liker I am. No ifs or maybes about that.

The food truck sections was by far my favourite part of the whole event. I just loved the set up and the creativity behind this new craze. I think its time I start going around the city and experiencing the different foods I can find in these wonders.

Oh yes.. the lovely food was all the rave. I loved what I experienced and still dreaming of it.

It was all good in the hood. Good Food and Wine show (Check) ... hmmm what do I do next.

Guess who is 28

The above was taken a few hours before I turned the big 28. Yep its official I am now a lady in my late 20s. Don't worry I will not start calling myself 20somthing or the whole "old enough".

I am actually pretty chilled about my age to the most part. I have experienced and just been threw way too much in my life to start hiding that. My life has been all sorts of crazy, fun, emotional and all just a blessing. This body has nurtured my soul and has kept all the madness contained ( oh well to some point hehehe).

One of the most inspiring things I was told when I turned 28 was " "Now you are entering the best years of your life. You are now mature enough to enjoy life and you don't need to any ones permission to do so." I get this to the last letter. Living for me and experiencing just because its for me. I know it is not a licence to pull a middle figure to the world ( not at all), I feel its just a way of living life while not pulling the middle finger to myself and my dreams.

I am excited about what 28 has to bring.
